The novel "21: Bring down The House" is an exciting novel that is about counting cards in the most popular gambling game, Blackjack. It was published in 2003 and made into a movie, 21, in 2008. The novel explains the story of a group of MIT students who goes into the world of gambling. Kevin bored of chemistry wanted a new excited thing in his life. His roommates Martinez and Fisher introduce him to the MIT blackjack team that was trying to recruit him after see his math capabilities. Using innovative methods to count cards while playing Blackjack which their mentor, Micky Rosa, invented. Card counting is something very complex and is not simple, "card counting is a misnomer; the practice has nothing at all to do with the ability to count cards coming out of the deck" (253). The students travel to Vegas and Atlantic City to use their abilities to win millions of dollars for their own profit. Dragged into this new lifestyle, the team finds a difficult time trying to balance reality from their new up and going lives. Lewis was the one recruited by the two top team players, Jason Fisher and Andre Martinez. Their mentor Micky Rosa invented the complex method to play Blackjack affectively without the casino security noticing and kicking them out. Rosa also financed the team and is the scout to pick up new players, as well as kicking members out. Rosa had formerly played the famous game of Blackjack when he was younger. However, this new team of MIT students did exceptionally well being the most profitable team so far.
