693 Words3 Pages

In the nonfiction novel Belichick and Brady by Michael Holley, the main point of the book is to describe how the pair has changed the game of football forever. This book is about arguably the best quarterback ever to play in the NFL, and how he and his coach went out to win five superbowls, and have various other records for wins and statistics. The book talks about a specific moment to describe Bill Belichick’s genius when dealing with troublesome players, “Belichick knew that he wasn’t going to trade or release law, and that training camp was four months away. He was going to let him talk, he didn't offer a single word in response” (113). He interviews players that used to play for Belichick as well as analyst and league insiders. He truly provides behind the scenes knowledge that most people could not access. Despite this, there are some weaknesses. One of these is the fact that some information just cannot be accessed. Personal discussions between Brady and Belichick cannot be determined, as well as team meetings and things of that nature. These things are private and limit the author's ability to develop the chemistry between Belichick and Brady. Also, some knowledge of football is required. Football terms such as safety and interception are used and if you do not know football, you may get confused and not follow the story as well.
Our overall reaction to this book is that it has a very good and understandable description of the life of a patriots. There isn’t a lot of fancy language to get tied up in, and it makes it more interesting to read about it. I found the book interesting as it really showed me more about the team then seen just through the TV during games. It showed us behind the scenes of what goes on before the
