People often think business and politics are separated from each other. However, both of them influence one another since they have a very deep connection with economics. Jane Mayer, the author of a book “Dark money”, focuses on the fact that businessmen affect politics in her book. Mayer reveals unknown history of affluent and prosperous people and how their political view have influenced American politics, and why they took such actions. The author mainly talks about Koch Family from Koch Industries to give readers specific examples of the affluent and prosperous family. Therefore, the public should watch the Koch Industries that make donations to benefit themselves because they are using their enormous financial power to control the American public in secrecy in order to gain more wealth. Koch Industries is one of the biggest companies in the world. When Fred Koch whose sons were Frederick, Charles, Bill and David founded koch company, he started it as just a oil business. However, the oil business became enormous success after he worked with Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler each in Soviet union and Germany to help them build oil factories. Working in the Soviet Union and Germany in 1920’s to 1940’s ideologically influenced Fred Koch undoubtedly since Jane Mayer states in her book that “Fred Koch’s political views were apparently shaped by his traumatic exposure to the Soviet Union.” (38) He joined John Birch Society whose views were primitive, and he supported anti-communists and limited government As it is usual for a father, his view affected his sons.
