Analysis on “Dusting” In the Alvarez, The main character, which remain anonymous, have depicted a normal day in the main characters house. The young character does not agree with her mothers outlook and disposition in life. Being a house woman is something the main character despises and frankly doesn’t want to become. The main character has made it a point to not be what her mother is, and the fact that her mother is a house woman is unappealing and unacceptable to her own self image. In the Alvarez, the main character wants to lead a different life than that of her mother.
The text is about a young lady who tries to leave prints on the dusty articles in her home however are wiped away by her mom. The word dusting, intends to wipe the dust off the furniture in the house however, it really implies that the young lady needs to be different from her mom, not thinking about her moms achievements and thinking of how to achieve her own. "But I refuse with every mark to be like her" (904).

the young lady's mom wants the young lady to be similar to her, and demonstrates this by continuing cleaning the scribble the young lady made on the furniture. Parents in general would like their youngster to be similar to themselves, as they trust that they can improve that way. The child is then not ready to pick their own way and feel like they need to take after their guardians. The kid would feel that their flexibility has been detracted from them and the won't perform well in their studies. I trust that all parents should let their young pick what they would like to do. Not compel them to accomplish something. I feel the main character is a young lady who needs to be unique in relation to her mom. The main character can do this by finishing executing decisions of her
