Do you think it will be possible for the human race to lose what it means to be a human? In the book feed by M.T. Anderson empathy of any sort is almost non-existent. In this novel there will be several concepts represented. Proving that communication in the book Feed by M.T. Anderson is no longer meaningful, since essential development for human is lost in most.

Citizens with the feed do not value talent to create an affluent or meaningful life. As a citizen born with the feed being implanted as a baby, Titus finds it difficult to understand rebels such as his girlfriend Violet and the hacker. I will. When? I’m not used to this. What do you do for fun? When? Normally. I haven’t been on the moon before. I mean, anywhere. What do you do? (Anderson 36). Titus is seemingly confused and curious as to how Violet cannot seem to find fun in any of the activities they do together. Whereas Violet is seen as all over the place since she does not know what do or say when he mentions this, which is obviously a normal human reaction for some. Similarly, some teens in this day an age mention technology and how, “it makes it harder for people to socialize in real life, because they become accustomed to not interacting with people in person.” (Anderson 3). Rather than attempting to fix this issue with heightening self esteem, people decide to continue to take the less meaningful and efficient route. Because of the increased timidness, texting is preferred over talking, since it’s “easier” to portray what you want. Especially since people can correct there mistake typing easier and without embarrassment as opposed to talking verbally where they may think they’ll be shamed from doing something normal. As a citizen, Titus finds it difficult to comprehend the old education system. Given the fact that corporations ingrained in the people’s mind, that what they are learning now is amazing. Titus even began to say how,“School tm is not so bad now...Back then, it was big boring, and all the kids were meg null, because they didn’t learn anything useful, it was like, da da da da, this happened in fourteen ninety-two... Now that School tm is run by corporations, it’s pretty, brag because it teaches us how the world can be used,”(Anderson 109). Although Titus’ schooling is not the worst, it definitely is not as good as back thens school system. And although Titus cannot help it, he is oblivious to how the corporations are using him. Since corporations tell the students that this system is the best system when it’s not and it only promotes consumerism. Violet even sees this and decides to go against this system of being oblivious. Similarly, teens today even mention how, “It provides a fake image of someone’s life. It sometimes makes me feel that their life is perfect when it is not.” (Girl, age 15)” Rather than having and showing your true life you show what you think people want to see. Because of this everyone is brought into this false belief that everyone’s life in this day and age is much better than back then when it is in some aspects and not others.
