The approach he uses that moves between Spanish, French, and several Native perspectives leads to repetition which could have been minimized in my opinion. The book's strength is its loyalty to the oral history of indigenous peoples of their own history. Native tribal historians, writers, and elders often shape the sound of the narrative.
The use of figurative language in this book, helps portray each character's personality. Roy uses a lot of similes, and the older protagonists, Curly and Officer Delinko, use more metaphors, which is a good thing, because every piece of figurative language makes the book more humorable. For example, in chapter nine on page 105 Roy says, “ No offense, but you are as nutty as a fruitcake”, and also in chapter one on page 3 Officer Delinko says, “The hole was a black hole”. Also, the author, Carl Hiaasan writes this story going back and forth from each protagonist’s journey, so then in the end we all see how much they’ve, and/or matured
The article “Indian Mascots- You’re Out”, was published in the Los Angeles Times and written by Jack Shakely (37f, 42a). In his article, Shakely mostly focuses on the stereotypes involving Native American mascots. Jack Shakely writes about how the Indian Mascots are made out to be unintelligent or savages on the sports field. The author, also existing as a Native American, feels that the mascots are insulting to his people.
The novel also makes a unyielding point about the dangers of consumerism, emphasizing how creativity and individualism can be reduced by allowing the government and media to think for them. Perhaps the most important feature of the book is that readers understand the value of imagination and cultural heritage. These points would not be understood or accepted by readers if the novel failed to follow narrative structure, which is undeniably the most important aspect of any literary

It’s hard to understand much else about the why’s and how’s of laughter, but they seem to know, simply, that it works. This means that in order for readers to further understand the reality of things like humor in Kesey’s book, oneself should have to ignore their feelings and sacrifice the pleasure and ask questions that help people to discover what it is about humor that is so powerful. Laughter does not only play a major role in the story, but in life as
Is Thomas crazy? With Victor being the protagonist that explains about Thomas behaviors, it may seem a reflection of this judgement shows otherwise. In the story “This Is What It Means to Say Phoenix, Arizona”, written by Sherman Alexie, Victor stands in the perspective of the modern generation, which helps people to relate to these characters. On the other hand, the antagonist, Thomas Builds-the-Fire, is demonstrated as an outcast, yet he resonate the history of Indian tradition and culture. What people consider as crazy when they sees a Thomas speaking to himself is: What is he saying?
Tan expresses the life experiences of Chinese immigrants to the United States and attempts to depict the relationship of a mother and daughter through her significant piece of writing ‘The Joy Club’. Phron Scranton Modernism and realism how do these types of literature came to evolve and how are they compared? In this writing, there will be a comparison of modernism and realism and how they related to each other. When it comes to modernism it is viewed as the results of a progressive society.
In her novel, The Joy Luck Club, Amy Tan focuses on the fact that the bond between a mother and daughter can overcome any ethnic barrier. Despite there being many disagreements and arguments about the ways to live their lives, Tan defies this issue by creating a bond that is unbreakable even though the experienced different upbringings. Certain disagreements keep the novel interesting and create a conflict depicting the problems stemming from this barrier. Through her use of similes, metaphors, and flashbacks, Tan shows how the bond between a mother and daughter can withstand even the strongest cultural differences.
Beah’s use of figurative language functions as a way to connect the audience to what he is experiencing. For example, he uses the simile “others curled up like a child in the womb” (Beah
A Humorous Sad Story “"Humor is the only truthful way to tell a sad story" (53). From incorrect English grammar, unusual hilarious nicknames, and getting a laugh out of tragedy, the novel Everything Is Illuminated uses humor to help keep a balance between emotions and gives a realistic life-like feeling to tragedies. Jonathan Safran Foer, gives humor the role to tell a sad story by taking the seriousness out of a situation, giving the story relief, and using it as a mechanism for one to cope. Many question if humor should be used when discussing serious topics such as rape, The Holocaust, and offensive language.
My previous knowledge was mostly grounded in stereotypes which primarily emphasize otherness. Highway however, dissembled those stereotypes through his emphasis on Indigenous values. He demonstrated how the Indigenous values of humor, Nanabush and family helped the women cope with and overcome both typical and adverse life experiences.
