In the article "What Makes Nora Rodriquez a hero ? " The author Mayela Sanchez states that Nora Rodriguez a native of Honduras, helps people gain legal status in Mexico. I agree that Nora Rodriguez is being a hero because she is helping immigrants fix their paperwork. Her office is a table on a corner with a beach umbrella to protect her from the sun, despise were she works people come to her for help on filing their paperwork for legal residency in Mexico, she helps them fill forms and wright letters to the immigration offices. Back at Claverage Middle School, the kids were wondering where Capricorn went and why he was suddenly not in school. Since the Halloween dance was cancelled, all the kids dressed up like Capricorn to pay tribute to him because they thought he was dead, but he wasn’t! Stargirl is a book by Jerry Spinelli based off of a boy named Leo and when he moved from Pennsylvania to Arizona, On the first day of school, Leo makes friends with a boy named Kevin. On the same day there has been talk about a new girl named “Stargirl” Caraway. It appears that she was homeschooled and everyone thought she was weird. One day during lunch, a girl named Hillari Kimble, Hillari makes an exclamation stating that Stargirl is fake and she is just there to bring school spirit back up. After a few weeks people were questioning the rumour, now every lunchtime after she finished eating, she would play her ukulele and sing “Happy Birthday” to random people, they would all applaud her.
Queenie comes in wearing bikinis, no real reason to as the beach is not too close, and grabs the attention of everyone. Especially Sammy, which causes him to pay attention to her and only her. Soon after a lot of staring from Sammy, the manager appears. The manager, Lengel, catches sight of Queenie and her girls and quickly approaches to tell them it is not appropriate for the store. Queenie and the manager get into an argument and soon enough Sammy sees his opportunity.
Then, Leo fell in love with Stargirl and their relationship blossomed. Stargirl and Leo ran into a problem; Leo had to choose between her and his friends. Another main character is Archie. He is an older man whose house is surrounded by rocks and fossils and he has a 30 ft tall cactus in his backyard. Archie was a good character because he gave Stargirl and Leo wisdom and confidence.
The next day, while she is home alone that same boy with the shaggy black hair shows up. His name is Arnold. Keep in mind that she never exchanged any words with him before. The reason he went out of his way to talk with her is because of her attractiveness. He says to her “I took special interest in you, such a pretty girl.”
The folktale The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County written by the astounding Mark Twain brought him world wide attention because of his significant use of humor. The folktale contains wisdom and deep as the tone of the story. In the frame story Jim Smiley gambles and finally loses the bet to a “feller” who kills Smiley’s frog. Simon narrates “So he sat there a good while thinkin and thinkin to hisself, and then he got the frog out and prized his mouth open and look a teaspoon and filled him full of quail pretty near up to his chin” this exposes the unnamed man who cheats to win against smiley who is usually lucky.
He’s bullying Stargirl, so she can change and Leo would be an outsider again. Two days later, she vanished because of this. At the Ocotillo Ball, Hillari Kimble spotted Stargirl and called her, “Stardust” (Spinelli 175). Then, Hillari Kimble walked toward to Stargirl and slapped her, “You ruin everything” (Spinelli 175). This quote restated that Hillari Kimble bullied Stargirl in front of the crowd.
With Ponyboy and Johnny being the nice kids they are the tell Dallas to leave them along making get upset and leaving. After that the girls hang around with them for awhile until their boyfriends show up drunk and angry that two other guys are talking to their girls. The girls go home with them and Ponyboy and Johnny leave. Later that night they run into them again and they remember them starting a fight. Bob one of the Socs gets killed in the fight by Johnny in fear that he was going to kill Ponyboy.
