Protagonist: The protagonist of the story is an african american male named George Milton who is a migrant worker. George is a very serious man who is ready for anything. He is a leader and guides his mentally challenged friend Lennie. Although George is african american he dreams of owning a ranch one day with Lennie. (Word Count 55) Antagonist: The antagonist of the story is a short man named Curley. Curly is the son of the ranch owner where George and Lennie work. Curly picks on Lennie which is wrong because Lennie is mentally challenged. Curly is very mean and is full of himself because his father owns the ranch. Curly has a wife who flirts with almost everyone which also leads him to hate George and Lennie. His wife soon leads to Lennie being guilty of her death thus causing them to maybe not being able to own their own ranch. (Word Count 93) Plot: The plot of the story is the struggles to acquire dreams. George and Lennie dream of owning their own ranch with bunnies but they face many challenges such as Lennie being mentally challenged and not being taken seriously, he is picked on by Curly and can’t do many things on his own. George and Lennie work on a farm near Soledad, California next to the Salinas River. The mood of the story is a dark and gloomy because there was a dream that couldn’t become a reality and overall many bad things happened throughout the story. George and Lennie are nothing but slaves to the world and have to face the fact that in the real world there is death and dreams that can’t happen. All Lennie wanted was a ranch with many bunnies but died before it could even happen. Out of everyone George had killed Lennie, no one else but his best friend. (Word Count
