Kitty’s article “ Equality, Dignity and Disability” was an informative article in regards to advocating for people with disabilities. Kitty advocates for people with disabilities and feels that they should be treated with dignity and equality. I feel the information that was proved in the article was informative and how the dignity of a person with disabilities are being disregarded, to be sad. By providing people with such support is very important. Kitty states “Given Adequate support and access, people with disabilities can live lives that are full and as worthy as those whose bodies are not similarly impaired” (Kitty 2005). I agree with Kitty and feel that people are able to thrive when they are receiving physical and mental support. They could receive support from a family member, medical facility, or a care provider. One reason could be because they themselves were not born with a physical or mental disability. Perhaps these individual’s quickly forget that they may require such assistance in the future. Once most people are in their “golden years” they may have to depend on others to complete daily task. I have notice that this is not always an easy transition for many individuals because they feel like they are losing their independency. They may become hesitant to let another person assist them with certain task such as changing their clothing, assistance with incontinence care and bathing. Once needing this type of assistance, perhaps this is when it will become important if they are being treated with dignity and respect. They should also be grateful that they are a human being because “ no other creatures devote themselves to the care of the ill, the disabled and the frail elderly that humans do as a matter of course” (Kitty
