The author, Celeste Ng, grew up in Shaker Heights and her inspiration for writing Little Fires Everywhere was that she misses the uniqueness and unusualness of the community. It portrays several characters: Elena Richardson, Lexie Richardson, Trip Richardson, Moody Richardson, Izzy Richardson, Mia Wright, and Pearl Wright, who all struggle with conflict and life as teenagers and adults. This quotation further provides evidence of Lexie changing, as previously stated, Lexie—along with the other Richardsons—would never care whether or not people would like them.
