The explanations of the life trajectories of the men studied in this book are especially important in light of the inflamed rhetoric and intense debate that characterize the interactions between the two distinct ideologies that have bifurcated the theorists of educational reform: Economically deterministic theories and the theories emphising the autonomy of the cultural level. Though the attempt of the author is to provide a perspective which allows for the simultaneous existence of the two theories. We will see that neither perspective can be said to be entirely endorsed by the conclusions found in Ain’t No Makin’ It.

Often when an average parent or upstanding individual turns on the television and sees a young black man rapping about the hood they are murdered. On impulse the channel is changed without considering what message that individual is endeavouring to deliver. Right when listening to rapper Too Short and his song "Gettin it", you hear a lot about how hard it is to be a black individual. The tune is about getting away from the hood and making a fair life for yourself. The lion's share of society simply expect that these energetic but black rappers have no brains and no sense of purpose for life.

A good parent is responsible for the physical and emotional development of a child who in the beginning is totally dependent on parents. Parenting is not an easy job. If you are incapable of this responsibility, you should not be a parent. At the beginning of her book, The Glass Castle, Jeannette Walls, her parents were incapable of providing a safe environment for their young, innocent children.
Analysis First and foremost, Haydn Shaw engages the reader by presenting some extreme cases of helicopter parenting and stating that he isn’t a fan of this parenting style. However, he then goes on to tell us that being an involved and engaged parent isn’t a negative thing and gives a further explanation as to why he believes this. Alone the fact that he starts of by stating: “I’m not a fan of helicopter parents”, can make readers with the same attitude identify with him, which will make it easier for him to persuade them with his logic later and eventually change their opinion. In addition to that he manages to use some ethos as his opening line is: “In the workshop I teach on generational differences.”
Sometimes people don’t realize how much their decisions and choices can effect others around them. Parenting is one of these such cases. The thought of having to raise children is loved by many people, but it is often a feared reality. Many people don’t see themselves as being capable of being a parent, even though they are very capable of being a good parent. Some of the best examples of good parenting fall into the book To Kill a Mockingbird.
In our life, we often have experiences that teach us how and what we want to be like when we grow up. Everyone has ups and downs from time to time that make one want to stop and other times make one want to run while individually they feel free. The Garden Story by Katherine Mansfield and The First Born Son by Ernest Buckler both show how parental pressure, social pressure, and family pressure around an individual can influence the way one will treat others. Once in a while it is an advantage when they want to change the world to make it better for others, but oftentimes it is for the worse because they personally accept the problems they have and never trying to fix them. Both stories have parental influences that want them to stay as they are, tradition influences that professions stay in the family, and they are always compared to the better child that is more like by parents.
In a family there are many different roles; there's the role of the mother, the father, the child, the grandparents, then there’s the brothers and sisters. Every single one of those roles has different responsibilities. The father, according to most of society, is supposed to be the breadwinner for the family. However, nowadays the mother is actually quite capable of being the breadwinner just as much of as the father. As they work to show their children what it is to be an adult they are teaching them as well on how to be an active member of society.

This relates to us because in our situation the parents are doing everything for their children much like the house does. Another quote is, “Instead of letting them go outside to play, parents filled their kid’s spare time with organized activities, did their homework for them, resolved their conflicts at school with both friends and teachers, and handed out trophies for just showing up” ( “Are We Raising a Generation of Helpless Kids?” ). This shows how much parents do for their children. They’re awarding kids for doing nothing, and that isn’t teaching them a good lesson. All music has multiple functions. While music can preserve artistic value, it can also simultaneously tell a story, bring people together, historicize, heal, and rejuvenate. Most importantly, however, it sends a strong message and stimulates strong emotions to the listener. The song, “Where is the Love” by The Black Eyed Peas, performs all of these functions. The song symbolizes the sociological conflict theory.
