Throughout the span of america there has been many songs and speeches that bring the issues african americans face to the public and allows all individuals to understand their hardships. One of the most influential people to give speeches concerning the well being of the African American community is Malcolm X. He is considered to be one of the founding fathers of the black rights movements and well as a role model to those who know about his achievements in life. Another man who is known for bringing African American issues to the public is Nasir Jones ,or otherwise known as Nas. Throughout the entirety of Nas’ discography you can find songs that address a plethora of issues that African Americans face throughout their lives. In Malcolm X’s speech he directs his message to African American Community and tells them that they are the ones who can spark a change for African Americans in the United States. Malcolm X believes that the community can have a larger impact on the government if they work together rather than trying to talk to the government himself. In contrast, the song “Want to Talk to You” specifically speaks to those who are in power stating that a change needs to occur from the inside of government. Nas addresses all politicians to helps those in need especially those in the African American community. Each media has tries to to achieve the same the goal which is to increase the presence of african americans in the government , as well as bettering the african american community. However each one takes a different approach to the issue at hand. The differences between the time periods for each media piece could be the reason why different methods were used to deal with the
