In the book, The Breadwinner, Parvana’s family had such a hard life after all the bombs happened. At first they said they said that they had a big house, plenty of food, even a car, and everything they needed. The father was a teacher and got arrested for having a foreign education so the Taliban arrested him. Then the family didn’t have the money they needed so Parvana had to change into a boy so she can do the job that her father did which was going to the market to read and write letters for people. Parvana went with her father when he did it so it wasn’t so hard for her to do. She was lonely a lot. However, there was a girl Shauzia who had just as bad of a hard life as Parvana. Nooria said, ”Ali is almost out of diapers so do want to wash them or do you want to go get water.” Parvana always did whatever it took to make sure they had something they needed. She told them the story about how her family got shot. She was saying, “ I escaped from Mazar-e-Sharif just after the Taliban Captured the city.” The taliban is in Mazar. They went from house to house looking for enemies. They came to my house. They came right inside! They grabbed my father and my brother and took them outside. They shot them right in the street. My mother started hitting them, and they shot her too. I ran back inside and hid in the closet. I was there for a long, long time. I thought they would kill me, too, but they were finished killing people at my house.
