In both articles,” The Last Wilderness Preserve” and “A New Land of Opportunity” the authors state their opinions on how human behavior and actions have impacted the vast land of Antarctica. They argue over if people should inherit the land or let it stay uninhabited by man. Even though people don’t inherit the land of Antarctica, we still have dramatic effects on the amazing environment, like global warming. Global warming is from all the pollution that is let off by trash, car emissions, and factories that are polluting the earth’s atmosphere. This terrible pollutions is melting the ice caps and snow that covers Antarctica. Even though humans live hundreds to thousands of miles away from the vast land, our pollutions is harming the environment just as bad. As it states in the article, “ The Last Wilderness Preserve,” Global warming, a gradual heating of the planet thought to be caused by pollution, has melted much of Antarctica’s ancient ice and may soon lead to greater …show more content…

One good point they use is that there are not many places where minerals and fossils fuels are found on the continent. And seeing as americans fossils fuels and rocks and minerals are used for many different things here. So if we don’t have as much we will not make it. In the text it also states, That Antarctica is the coldest and windiest continent with the least drinkable water. Knowing this people need water to survive and if there is not an abundance of it then how are we going to survive. A lot of the drinkable water that is there is either underground in springs or frozen up in ice caps. I think all this information helps the author of, “The Land Wilderness Preserve,” because it shows that Antarctica is a place that was not made for human to try and live and thrive
