Americans have long been fascinated with the narrative genre.The idea that an innocent could be taken from the home into a wilderness or foreign land at a moment’s notice has ‘’captured’’ American’s imagination from the time of the early colonists who loved the narratives to the modern day movie goers who thrill in movies such as Taken. Mary Rowlandson was treated harshly at first but then they started to get better and treating her like a brother or sister. But unlike Oladuah Eqaunio, he was treated harshly and was beat up. Even though the people did not treat him that well, he had comfort because of his fellow prisoners that were with him in the boat. He knew that they understood what he was going through with him. As well as Mary Rowlandson, she had comfort because it was her daughter that was dead beside her. But she did have comfort at the end of the narrative because it was her daughter. Oladuah wasn’t comfortable because he started to smell the stinch and felt like he was getting sick.
