Summary Of The Play 'RIDE' By Eric Lane

On November 18, 2017, I saw the Richland College Theatre Department’s production of RIDE by Eric Lane. In this essay, I will express what we’re the exceptional things that I saw. Also, I will use terms from what I learned from class, to explain some factors that I interpreted from the play. Starting off, the indicated play, had a humorous but serious mood throughout the program. Dark twists from left to right, to the point where it can be considered a tragic comedy, which means that overall the play is a tragedy, but the playwright uses humor, sometimes satirical, to advance the storyline or deliver a message. The actors did a good job with dialogue, I felt I was witnessing this conversation, face to face and they made the characters they we’re playing come alive, and I felt that it could be easy to overplay the character but I did see that, they gave enough energy to be believable: Sam was played by an older actor and it was obvious, but there was moments that catch myself believing that it was truly a 11 year old there, she didn’t play her character as cute or childish but more like a little sister would act, and also she wasn’t one sided to any other characters, I think she was supportive to both Carrie and Molly and that gave her enough matureness for it not be …show more content…

When transitions occurred, there would be some mysterious music playing, which I thought was a nice detail, it would let us know it skip through a part that is not relevant to the story; the lights we’re cued greatly specially when giving Carrie her moments to talk about her feelings of certain situations that are going on: there was moment where Carrie was having her moment and the spotlight was on her and the other side of the stage was light where the car was at with Molly and Sam were at, and so that portrayed that these moments are going on in Carrie’s head, her thoughts and when Carrie was about to finish making point to herself, Sam interrupt her thought and say it’s no fair how she gets
