In the novel “ Their Eyes Were Watching God” by Zora Hurston their are a few key points in the main character’s life, Janie were after that moment her life either takes a turn for the best or for the worst. This is something people can all relate to because it happens to all of us whether we realize it or not. There are some decisions people make without thinking that change our whole lives forever. All of her key decisions seem to correlate with her being happy or trying to be a better version of herself.
The first or major event that jumpstarted Janie’s life was perhaps when Nanny convinced Janie that she should marry Logan, which wasn’t all for the right reasons. Nanny wanted her to marry him because he had money and he could provide for her and keep her financially stable. Their relationship was brittle and dry. Logan just expected her to clean up, make the food and basically be a house slave. There was no love in that relationship and it was mentally draining Janie. She thought that being married to someone meant that you have love and passion, but that 's not what really happened. Their relationship was more of an obligation. The final major life decision was when she took out three bullets from his gun to see if he was actually crazy enough to shoot her. When he pointed that gun at her it meant that he had crossed that line. There was no going back to the way things were before, all the love and passion went out the window. In the those few precious moments of Teacake pulling that trigger Janie made the decision to kill him and end their relationship right then and there. Some time passed and Janie starting reflecting on her life with Teacake. She didn’t regret her time with him before he went crazy she enjoyed the time that they shared together. It was the most she ever felt with someone. But once again here we see Janie alone and content, just living her
