‘Five parts dead’ is a thrilling book and kept you wanting to read more. Tim Pegler bases this book on a boy, Dan. It shows his pass on what he endured and the present; the mystery he is solving. This book teaches you the consequences of drunk driving, how each day is a blessing and how jealousy will blind you into doing drastic things.
I was hooked by the very beginning of this book; I was also intrigued by Dan the main character. By looking at the cover I was interested in what it meant by five parts dead. Most of Dan’s mates call him cat because a cat has nine lives for surviving nine deaths that are meant to come. Dan almost died 5 times, each at different parts of his life. Though the high maybe their when your drinking with your mates and need to take a beer run to get someone most people know it’s wrong and try and stop this. For example, Dan was trying to be a good mate and took the keys from Aaron’s car he browed from his brother. Dan hid the keys because everyone knew what Aaron was like when he was drunk; if he wanted something he wanted it now. The boys found out Dan hid the keys by Boris and Phan picking him up and Aaron beating the truth out of him. Dan couldn’t take it anymore and confessed where it is only to be dragged in the car as well with the help of Boris and Phan well Carlo and Aaron hoped in as well. This is an act of peer pressure. Aaron wanted to know where his keys were and instead of listening to his friend Dan he decided to beat the truth out of him to find his keys, also a form of bullying as well. He was dragged in the car with them even though he told them no using references to Star Wars in which Aaron replied to “Negator. That does not compute, Luke. We need the beer and that is a mission for the entire team =. Which means you. Get him, Chewie”. That’s how he was dragged into a car with his four drunk mates. Everything seemed fine after a while when he thought everything would be ok until Dan spoke out. But it was too late.
