The Whipping Boy is a Newberry award-winning book by Sid Fleischman that follows the story of Prince Brat (as he is known by everyone behind his back) and his whipping boy, Jemmy as they embark upon an action packed adventure when they run away from the castle. The chapters in this book are short and include a few pictures. The story is pretty action packed as it happens in about a twenty-four hour period. The story has a good moral to it about two unlikely friends from different backgrounds coming together, learning more about each other, changing their ways, and becoming friends.
Victor Rios begins chapter six by describing the way the Latino boys he studied used masculinity as a rehabilitative tool. He describes how the boys are constantly “questioning” each other’s manhood as a way of proving their own masculinity. “The boys’ social relations with one another and with community members were saturated with expressions and discourses of manhood” (pg.125). Rios continues to describe the affects criminalization and its gendered practices has influenced these young boy’s mentality of what it means to be masculine. In chapter six, the author explains that although the boys had easy access to weapons, they rarely used them because of their clear understanding the consequences associated with such violence.

This entire book has lots of emphasis on how short and violent The Kid’s life truly was. Utley, just like any other historian, knows very little about the beginning years of his life. I found it hard to find a thesis for a biography, the best I can put together would be that Utley says how much Henry McCarty actually did throughout his extremely brief life. Going into detail about how he began his life as a “hoodlum” so to say. Growing up in 1800s was a time of evolution and people like Henry McCarthy led a life being a creature of his time.
On April 21, 2017, I interviewed one of the Burbank High School Spanish teacher name Mr. Tito Proano. The reason I interview him about mariachi was because he writes and sing Spanish and English music’s and knows about mariachi music too. Instead of singing and writing songs, he plays guitar and drums. Also, he likes to Latin American, English, and rock and roll music. He talked about the mariachi history, root and instrument.
In the novel,” The Pigman” by Paul Zindel, two teenagers named John and Lorraine befriend the Pigman. Near the end, the Pigman suddenly passes away. Even though numerous things contributed to Mr. Pignati’s death, the stress of John & Lorraine’s party and Bobo the monkey’s death played the biggest part. John and Lorraine threw a party while Mr. Pignati was at the hospital, but near the end, Mr. Pignati unexpectedly arrived back home.
The Pigman, written by Paul Zindel, is the adventurous story of two teenagers who befriend a nice, lonely old man and their time together. Although there were many wonderful memories involving John, Lorraine, and Mr. Pignati (the Pigman), sad memories were also made. The Pigman dying was a difficult time for two of the main characters, John and Lorraine. The pigs from the Pigman’s special collection being broken; and the baboon, Bobo, dying were the largest contributions to Mr. Pignati’s death. There may have been other factors; however, these had the most impact towards his death.

THE "Red Death" had long devastated the country. No pestilence had ever been so fatal, or so hideous. Blood was its Avatar and its seal --the redness and the horror of blood. There were sharp pains, and sudden dizziness, and then profuse bleeding at the pores, with dissolution. The scarlet stains upon the body and especially upon the face of the victim, were the pest ban which shut him out from the aid and from the sympathy of his fellow-men.
