change: change means that you do something differently Seedfolks by Paul Fleischman is a book about a girl named kim who plants lima beans, she does this hoping she would gain a connection with her dad. as she plants the lima beans people around her community see what she has done and it inspires them to also plant a seed and make a difference in their community. and they do this because they know that they can help make a difference in their community by planting a seed so people will see their plant and it will inspire them to plant something of their own. in this book there are thirteen different characters and they all have their stories, different ethnicities and they all get impacted by kim who starts a garden. two people that got impacted were wendell and sea young. Wendell is a man who is from kentucky he has had a long past because his sons have died,his wife also died and he works as a janitor. wendell helps the lima beans by giving them water so they wouldn’t die. wendell changes because of the garden because he sees how Kim made a difference and he realizes that he can also make a difference. he even says “I didn’t know why at first then I did theres plenty about my life I cant change …show more content…

this makes sea young scared of the world. she also has been in her apartment for a few months. but when she becomes a part of the garden it helps her overcome her fear of being scared of the world. because of the incidents that have occurred. the garden also helps her meet new people , make new friends ,she also buys a funnel for rainwater so people from the garden could use this to water the plants,plants peppers and she gets happy when people start using her funnel she even says “that day i see man use my funnel then many people feel very glad inside feel part of the garden almost like family “ - Sea
