Bob M. is a 19-year-old Caucasian male who has 13 years of formal education and lives at home with his parents after recently flunking out of his first year of college. Bob’s parents, David and Ruth M., referred him for assessment due to concerns about his alcohol use and its apparent interference with his aspirations of becoming a chemical engineer. They report that Bob began drinking at age 12, experimentally at first; however, they have become excessively more concerned as Bob has aged. Bob arrived on time for the initial consultation with a neat appearance and full understanding as to why he was there. An assessment was conducted to determine a potential diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan, if necessary.
Overview In 2015, the Tennessee Supreme Court rejected the 30-day suspension of the law license of attorney, Robert Vogel, who was caught by federal authorities in a sex scandal involving a young pill-addicted female client, and provided confidential information about another client to a judge in a separate matter (Satterfield, 2015). Vogel was appointed to represent the girlfriend of the leader of a $6.5 million pill distribution network in 2012, when he began to beg the women to engage in sexual encounters (Satterfield, 2015). The client complied with his requests, stating that she felt Vogel “held her future in his hands” because she faced serious federal prison time (Satterfield, 2015). The women tried to end the relationship on several
The judge’s decision in the case of Walter B. can be discussed from the two perspectives, though her decision still seems to be wrong in the light of the presented evidence. From the first perspective, the judge relied upon the legislatures and federal laws to derive her own opinion. One of the major tenets she was driven by is the capable guardianship effect, which suggests that dangerous offenders, who live closely to neighborhoods, can potentially harm the community members (Mancini, 2014). Since Walter had a neurological condition and was caught on the possession of child pornography (Sacks, 2015), he was considered to be dangerous for people in his community due to his inclination to sexually abuse children. This fact was reinforced by

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have strongly recommended the use of PT, non-drug, non-opioid as the first-line of treatment for chronic pain. The public tends to think that physical therapy deals more on the physical aspect of health. As we have learned in Health and Wellness, there is more than to the physical aspect of health. A few years ago, my aunt was diagnosed with diabetes and renal failure. Together, the two illnesses were crippling, forcing her into months of hospitalization. She eventually became wheelchair bound due to chronic weakness from multiple treatments and surgeries. Ultimately, she was admitted into a rehabilitation facility, where she began receiving occupational therapy services three hours a day, three days a week. After weeks of intense leg treatments, she regained her ability to stand and walk with relative ease.

The literature shows that multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary intervention approach is the best selected intervention for individuals with LBP [40-43]. The effectiveness of the interdisciplinary treatment for LBP is supported by the literature; it significantly relieves pain, improves physical function and mental health, and reinforces the use of self-management skills for individuals with LBP [40-42]. A systematic review shows that interdisciplinary intervention has a greater effect on long, medium, and short term pain and disability compared to the usual care and physical therapy treatment (i.e. “heat and electrotherapeutic modalities; aerobic, stretching, and strengthening exercises; manual therapies; and education interventions”) [44].

The Hard Working Therapists A significant amount of people are misinformed about physical therapy. These people look at physical therapy as something you do to help heal a body part back to its normal stage before the incident or injury happened. In reality this is not the only job of a physical therapist their careers are much more than just that. First of all their chosen career is to be a healthcare profession that assists a patient in diagnosing and treating their medical condition that is immobilizing the patient’s movement. It seems like physical therapists only have two jobs diagnosing and treating but that is not the case.
Rehabilitation involves the successful and productive interactions of several clinicians. According to Lewis, Rehabilitation is the process of maximizing the patient’s capabilities and resources to promote optimal functioning related to physical, mental, and social well-being. There is no one universal definition of rehabilitation, but the goal and outcome of each patient implemented by a collaborative healthcare team are relatively similar. The goals of rehabilitation are to prevent deformity, maintain and improve function. Rehabilitation can occur in several settings, ranging from acute, subacute, or long term care.
With an optimal amount of regular physical activity, the risk of certain chronic conditions can be reduced as much as 50% 13,24. However, with the increasing number of cases of Parkinson’s disease, there is still a lack of evidence to support the benefits of physical activity. In addition, while it is a pressing concern in Canadians, lack of research is done among this population. From these observations, it would then be important to ask, is the level of total physical activity associated with preventing and lowering the risk of Parkinson’s disease in
