My task was to take Super Subs restaurant #104 and identify the issues and give solutions that will yield results and cause this restaurant to be one of the best in the district, and around the United States. There were definitely the core issues that I was aware of before starting work at store #104. These issues that I was aware of is that the turnover rate for employees are very high. No hourly employees have been with the company for longer than 18 months. Another issue that I was aware of before going on-site to fix issues is that the manager and assistant manager don’t really interact with the customers as much as they should. Waste occurs when employees when employees drop/spill food, cut up more ingredients than are sold, burn heated subs, prepare and order incorrectly and eat or give away food without permission. There are many factors that go into this issue. I believe this has become a problem due to lack of communication and lack of training. The main reason why I believe that this has become a problem is because employees are not being motivated and given benefits to motivate them. I believe that employees should be motivated and offered incentives. I believe that if store offers employees some benefits such as one free meal a day or even, half priced meals; employees will feel more valued, satisfies, and not abuse the system, which will lower waste and therefore increase profitability. They sit in meetings and discuss new procedures, advertising campaigns and communicate only through memorandums and email when there are new products or if displeased. The corporate mission includes valuing and taking care of the people who are Super Subs to the customers. I believe that this is an issue because store managers and employees should feel like there is an open line of communication between their store and corporate. Corporate notices all these problems within the store, but don’t send any corporate office personal to visit and see what the issue is. Not only should corporate be visiting when there are issues, but also when everything is going good. They should have open communication and have their presence shown in the stores. The organization behaviors that I feel need to be addressed is company culture and leadership. Super Subs prides themselves on valuing their employees and customers alike. I believe that corporate needs to dig into the company culture and reach out to their store. Employees at store #104 should feel like they are taken care of and are supported. Open communication is very important in turning a company from low profits to high
