The authors of this comic book have created a dialectical argument, which is the controversy of the Superhero Registration Act. However, Congress is choosing whether or not it must be imposed on the superheroes. One can see each superheroes’ viewpoints on whether they support or oppose it. Captain America is against the new law. He does not believe in giving up the superhero’s rights to the government.
Did you know that the United States ranks 17th in education performance? That is a huge drop from 1980 when the United States was ranked 1st. Clearly, our education system has gone in a downward spiral and is struggling to keep up with other countries. The documentary, “Waiting for Superman” by David Guggenheim, and the article, “Idiot Nation” by Michael Moore, discuss the weaknesses in our education system. Although both authors offer compelling arguments, “Waiting for Superman” contained a better argument because of its abundance of rhetorical strategies, whereas “Idiot Nation” contained some logical fallacies.

Ben Mitchell, a professor of Moral Philosopher at the Union University, in his article, “On Human Bioenhancements” (200), argues against the use of human enhancement which has emerge questioning about, the principles of justice, and cultural complicity. Mitchell supports his argument by describing how this method is an unethical behavior by the medical community and how this new technology should not be implement anywhere in the future. In Superman and Me by Sherman Alexie, Alexie’s father’s love for books grew to make his self-love books ending up in Alexie teaching himself how to read. Alexie describes the stereotypes and what is expected of Indian children and how Indian children were expected to basically have no knowledge Many lived up to those expectations inside the classroom but invalidated them on the outside. While other children were doing this, Alexie’s father was one of the few Indians on the reservation who went to Catholic School on purpose and was also an devoted reader. Alexie grew up around books. His father had a strong love for books as he bought them by the pound from pawn shops, goodwill and the salvation army.

Sherman Alexie is a talented poet, short story writer, novelist, and performer that grew up on the Spokane Indian reservation. He has published twenty-four books and also written and co-produced a movie. In “The Joy of Reading and Writing: Superman and Me,” Alexie conveys a story to the reader about how reading and writing significantly changed his life. Living on an Indian reservation in Washington in 1966, Indian children were projected to fail: “We were Indian children who were expected to be stupid. Most lived up to those expectations inside the classroom” (Alexie 364).
