• Training is given by an institutional perspective
• Training is often viewed as a means of reducing an agency’s legal liability or a seeming to do something about a problem
Training is a major key in order for officers to be successful and to reduce the risks of them either injuring themselves on the job or others. However, not every department has enough funding to provide officers with excellent training. More training needs to be done when it comes to working on officers’ bias. This can relate to my topic, because individuals have a subconscious bias that they may not realize they have. Providing officers with this training can allow them to be even more aware of some of the issues that they face internally. This can allow them to work on it, and fix their mistakes to better them not only as an individual, but also as an officer who deals with a lot of face-to-face contact; with individuals who may not look similar to what they are use to.
