She was sitting there, next to her lawyer. She looked dead, she did not know what was going to happen, but she did know that she would pay for what she did. Her look was empty and her face told us that she was not in court with us, she was in her own world. When she realized, the time had passed and the sentence was said. She would spend the rest of her life in prison, but that would not be enough for the harm she has caused.

Everyone in our town respected my mother, Susan Mont. She was a single mother of nine children. All the citizens of the town knew her but they did not know her past.
