Susie was a happy normal 14 year old before she was murdered by a man down her street. On December 6, 1973, Susie took a shortcut through the cornfield and saw Mr.Harvey just standing there, who knew it would be her last day on Earth. This is all happened because Susie finally decided to stop hurting them by trying to communicate with them and she moved on. Towards the end of the book Susie realized she will be in heaven and eventually see her family again but not till a long time. “ I would like to tell you that it is beautiful here, that I am, and you will one day be, forever safe… Now I am in the place I call this wide wide Heaven because it includes all my simplest desires.”( page 324-325). …show more content…
On a scale from 1-5 I rate this book a 5. I liked how the author wrote the storyline by explaining Susie’s death in the beginning not the end like what a typical author would do. For example,”My name was Salmon like the fish; first name, Susie. I was fourteen when I was murdered on December 6, 1973.” It didn't start off by explaining her life it went straight to the main conflict, which I enjoyed. Also. I liked how the dead girl, Susie was narrating the story which made it seem more realistic since it was from her point of view so the reader really had an understanding on how she was really feeling. The way she portrayed Mr. Harvey as a disgusting old man who finds joy in killing girls, was really good because that is what he deserves. Susie had no clue her own neighbor would do such thing to her. I liked how Len the detective couldn't find any evidence on Mr. Harvey, but Susie would try her best to hint out to her sister or father that is was him. Seeing how much Susie matured throughout the book was a good part of it and taught the audience a lesson , that people should move on and think of others instead of hurting them by just thinking about yourself and your own happiness. Overall, it was a great book because I really do enjoy reading about kidnaps or deaths, I would recommend it to anyone who is also interested in those types of things. “ I would like to tell you that it is beautiful here,
