In Jon Sweeney’s lecture and book, “ When Saint Francis Saved The Church”, he spoke about Francis leading a revolutionary life. There were two points that helped support with Francis leading a revolutionary life. Those points were friendship and poverty. Sweeney spoke about how important friendship and poverty was to Francis. These points helped with Francis learning what kind of person he would be and do with his life.
“Center Field” The book I'm reviewing is "Center Field" by Robert Lipsyte. The book is about a kid named Mike Semak. Mike is a star center fielder for his high school baseball team. His life was going great.
A Response to Barbara Kingsolver’s The Poisonwood Bible and the essentializing of Africa: a critical double standard? Barbara Kingsolver was not able to enter the Congo/Zaire while she was writing this book. She admits that she is relying on memories, other cultures, and others accounts of what the Congo/Zaire is like to write this book. I disagree with what William F. Purcell has to say about the use of cultures in her book.
The Chicago World Fair stirred many emotions in this great time of industrialization, but not only was Chicago shining in the spotlight from the fair, it was also promoting something much more sinister, this dark enclosing spotlight shined directly on H.H Holmes. Burnham the leader of the World Fair and H. H Holmes the notorious serial killer, are the two main characters in this novel that Erik Larson uses the balance between light and dark between these two’s personalities. In the novel The Devil in the White City Erik Larson uses Imagery, paradox, and alliteration to show the balance between the light and dark in the ever growing city of Chicago. Imagery paints an ever expanding picture for the audience, the detailed descriptions such as “but his eyes are as blue as ever, bluer at this instant by proximity to the sea" (Larson 3).

This is what Malcolm Lowery in his exercpt, "Ultramarine" portrays to readers to understand Dana Hilliot, who comes from a well-off family. Dana Hilliot is a sailor that is on a journey as he describes his experiences of day to day life on the ship. He deomonstrates the hardships and trials he and the crew face every day. Lowery incorporates various techniques such as imagery, allegory, and interior monologue in order to describe Hilliot and his experiences as a sailor.

I have been really enjoying my story The priests graveyard so far it brings you on a rollercoaster. It makes it difficult to guess what is going to happen next. It 's a jaw-dropping book that will leave you wanting more as the author Laurie writes in a crisp and clear way describing the young girl Melinda’s horrific story and how it unfolds. The author 's tone gives off the vibe of a young frighted girl which I find really enhances this sad, but exhilarating story. This story taught me to always speak up for myself and to never let anyone take advantage of me. The book I chose to read for my book review was “ Killing Mr.Griffin”. It is about 5 high school students who hate their english teacher Mr. Griffin and come up with a plan to kidnap him. Their main purpose is to just torture and make Mr. Griffin think he is going to die. The plan takes a tragic turn and results in Mr. Griffin's death. The plan simply falls apart in a domino effect of terror and grief.
I, personally enjoyed the book, The Poisonwood Bible. I would give it 4 out of 5 stars because it was so interesting. The author did an amazing job at informing readers of the true meaning of Africa. The last book I read was tilled ‘Unfailing Love’, authored by Danny Dick. Just like Other books he has written, it is centered on love, lust, betrayal and sticking together against all odds. Darrell an auto mechanic working in a remote, quiet town in Nebraska, had given up on love after losing the love of his life, Lily Thompson, in an unexplainable accident. Her body was never found, everyone except Darrell had this conviction she was dead. Ten years later, a patient in the Clarkson hospital, New Jersey, recovered mysteriously; medical practitioners were amazed and could only call recovering from a 10 year coma nothing short of a miracle.
I feel like people of middle school or high school age would appreciate this book, because it is at their reading level, roughly. I think that it’d be too difficult and gruesome for elementary kids, and too repetitive and childish for college aged adults and older. I feel people who are fond of dystopian future novels, such as The Hunger Games and Divergent would revel in this. These are my recommendations; it’s not a guarantee that every person in every category feels the way I imagine, but that is just my rough idea. I believe this novel was tolerable, giving it a rating of three and a half out of five stars, for me at least.
Have you ever read The Angel of Death? If not, save yourself some time and find a new book to read. The Angel of Death, written by Alane Ferguson, is a forensic mystery where the main character’s-Cameryn’s-former teacher was suspiciously killed in his home. Cameryn must find and solve the clues that trace back to the murderer of Brad Oakes. The Angel of Death has its ups and many downs, but there were still some good things, bad things, there some relatable parts, and I will give recommendations on if others should read this book.
The Nun’s Priest’s Tale Moral Lessons This story is about a widow who lives with her two daughters in a small cottage house with a few animals. She has three sows, three cows, a sheep, come chickens and one beautiful rooster by the name of Chanticleer. In this story Chanticleer the rooster is a special character who is in love with one hen named Pertelote. Chanticleer is so in love with Pertelote that him being in love makes him loose his mind and makes him stop believing in himself.
