Ironically, most people supporting the Confederate flag now claim Abraham Lincoln’s Republican Party. Kalispell also has belief-based terrorism. Does the Christian cross symbolize death, heaven, God 's love and salvation? The cross decorates the inside and outside of churches and is used on several church lawns to demonize women.
Source B describes, “2. Symbolism: Names or symbols are given to those classified as ‘different’. Jews living in Nazi occupied Europe were made to wear a Star of David.” This statement emphasizes the idea that the government is making the Jewish population stand out, and they are influencing other Germans to mistreat anyone with a Star of David on their clothes. Thus, the government persuaded the population with the idea that Jewish people should be mocked and
The Aryan Brotherhood is a gang that was founded in San Quentin State Prison in 1967. The man who founded the gang was Barry Mills and Tyler Bingham. Barry Mills and Tyler Bingham created the gang to protect white inmates from the predatory black and Mexican inmates. They were beat on randomly by Black Guerilla Family and the Mexican Mafia for either exploitation or no reason at all. Many whites did not like the random beatings, which is how the gang began.
The book, “America Swastika: Inside the white power movement’s hidden spaces of hate” by Pete Simi and Robert Futrell, was written 2010. I chose this book because I am interested in learning about why these racist groups have so much hate towards another race or group. Personally, I do not condone racism because it does not make sense to me as to how one person can hate another one without knowing them. I wanted to learn about how people who are in groups such as, the Ku Klux Klan, live in our country which is identified as a melting pot. White power movements are talked about in our history books and are explained as if they are in the past, but they aren’t.
Black Dahlia Murder In 1947 the tragic loss of Elizabeth Short shocked many people all over the world. This wasn’t your typical murder, this murder had to have been planned out and thought about for a while before its happening. The “Black Dahlia Murder” is the biggest unsolved case in Los Angeles and is still an undergoing investigation. I have reason to believe that Dr. Gorge Hodel is the murderer behind the brutality of Elizabeth Short’s body.
The symbols used include; the initials AB, shamrock clover leaf, the number 666, heil Hitler symbol (HH), Swastikas and double lightning bolts. The Aryan brotherhood from different states may include the name of the states they come from in their symbols. Letters separated by happy faces is also a common sign used by the Brotherhood. When I was a teenager, I truly believed an upside down or inverted Pentacle was a symbol of Satanism. This misconception is so common that I’ve even had someone ask me if my one point up Pentacle pendant was a “devil worshipping thing.” This is probably attributed to the fact that an inverted Pentagram has been used as a representation of the Horned God and the one point up Pentagram can be the Goddess. Over the years, Christianity misinterpreted the Horned God as being their Devil. That is not the case though for the inverted Pentagram.
There is some debate as to why they originally did this. Some contend that it was an interpretation for Fraktur, a highly stylized folk art used to decorate family records and other important documents. This theory suggests that these early hex signs were simply a way for the immigrants to celebrate and express their heritage. Others claim the hex signs were a modern take on the European pre-Christian pagan practice of painting runes and other symbols on buildings to ward off witchcraft and bring about good fortune. Whatever the original purpose of the signs may have been, over time
Manson, so disturbed and thriving off the media attention and spot light even carved an “X” in the middle of his forehead. Some of his followers did the same thing, others shaved their heads. The “X” gradually turned into the Swastika symbol seen on his forehead today. On January 25, 1971, Charles Manson was convicted of First degree murder for directing the deaths of Tate and Bianca and was sentenced to death, but the Supreme Court invalidated all death sentences prior to 1972. He would be sentenced to life in
While authors use symbols in their novels to help convey a message to their readers, people and organizations do the same in society today. Big organizations like the government try to portray their power and military strength, though sometimes they are just trying to portray a false sense of
The Black Panther Party was a political party started by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale in 1966. This political organization had most of its impact in: San Francisco bay area, Ca; New York, NY; Chicago, IL; and Los Angeles, CA. The Black Panther party began to fall around the end of the 70’s due to an FBI program called COINTELPRO, short for ‘Counter-Intelligence Program.’ The significance of analyzing this party and the effects the FBI had on it is to reveal a side of the civil rights movement that is often shadowed. The U.S. government saw civil rights as a large threat to security and took many initiatives to prevent parties and leaders, such as the Black Panther Party and Martin Luther King Jr., from becoming successful in their movement towards
