Alexa Harlem Mrs. Mercer College Writing - 4 11 September 2015 Question #1 The Other Wes Moore is a novel that uses the structure informative and narrative which provides information about the characters throughout the book and tells the story. This informative and narrative structure contributes to the overall effect of the book because Wes Moore the author explains how the two Wes Moore’s lives changed into completely different paths. One Wes went to military school and the other stayed home and dealt drugs. One wes kills a police officer and is arrested and the other one visits him in prison.
1) I believe that Moore, the author, is trying to say that the second chance is trying to rewrite the first mistake and the last chance could be your last chance. The author’s last chance to stop his drug dealing was when he was sent to military school. His temper against his mother, bad grades, absences from classes and an incident with a smoke bomb were the reasons his mother sent him to military school. (Moore 87) The “other” Wes had the decision to stop selling drugs while raising his family.
During the book The Other Wes Moore the author proves that good parenting will ultimately decide a child's future, This can lead to two vastly different life styles for both the author and the other Wes Moore. The book is written by Wes Moore and tells a story about two boys nearly the same age, live relatively close to each other, and have the same name. As a result of Parenting the main character Wes had gotten himself into a lot of trouble at school. This would eventually lead to his Mother making the rational decision of sending him to Valley Forge Military Academy.
All during this time Carver has continued to study agriculture. Carver was a scientist and inventor who loved to help others. For many years, he worked with peanuts. “He believed he could find a cure using the peanut oil”(George Washinton Carver). Although he worked very long and hard he did not find a cure.
Mark Character Analysis The quiet ones are the dangerous ones. That is the case when it comes to Mark Kinney, the mastermind behind the plot to kidnap Mr. Griffin. In the book Killing Mr. Griffin by Lois Duncan, Mark is a malicious, sullen and charismatic character.
Theatre reflects the society in which it is in. Use of particular elements of drama and production in Harrison’s Stolen and Keene’s Life Without Me and evokes the audience’s engagement and understanding of the dramatic meaning that is created. By exploring the development of the character’s personal concerns the audience can effectively engage with and consider the cultural issues expressed in these two plays. By highlighting and exploring these key issues the audience is challenged and confronted with a representation and reflection on parts of Australian culture. Takabayev Alisher Stein 12 C 17.10.16 Importance of scenes Movie Stand by Me is scripted of a short story by Stephan King “Body”. The plot lays around 4 friends that go onto a journey to find a dead body. There are 2 boys that stand out more from the rest, and they are Chris and Gordie. Although there are many scenes in the movie that could be compared to the scenes in the novella, there are scenes that are more important because they show differences in character development of Chris and Gordie.
Citizen Kane (Welles, 1941) challenged traditional narrative and technical elements of classic Hollywood cinema through techniques in cinematography, mise-en-scene and lighting. The film “Raging Bull” made in 1980 by Martin Scorsese was based on a self destructive, highly emotional boxer named Jake La Motta as he battles through life. As his fierce attitude and violent temper takes him to the top of ring it ruins his family and life outside of boxing. Throughout the film we discussed the importance of the cinematography through out the film and why it played such an important role in developing “Raging bull”. Also the theme of anger and violence is displayed throughout the film. Jake never changes, from start to finish he is an emotional wreck, isolated and quick tempered.
The three-act structure is the most widely used formula for writing movies in American cinema. Some swear that this structure is the perfect formula for creating a successful film that will top the charts and bring in the most revenue. As the name states, it is composed of three distinct acts: the setup, the confrontation, and the resolution. Each of these three acts has their own partitions called beats. The beats are checkpoints for important events that screenwriter and film analyst Blake Snyder says are imperative for writing a screenplay that will both captivate and entertain it’s audience.

The show Band of Brothers was produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks who, at the time, recently had success with a World War II film entitled Saving Private Ryan. Spielberg and Hanks used their expertise on war films to craft the exceptional television series Band of Brothers which originally aired on HBO in 2001. The show follows “Easy” Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, of the 101st Airborne Division, from the moment they begin their training to the moment their deployment ends. Throughout the show we see the men of “Easy” Company mature a thousand times over. The men experience love, loss, and death at rate that is inconceivable to someone that has never experienced the theatre of war.
I found this movie interesting because I agree with what the film implied on how all patient share a commonality called vulnerability. In the movie Wit, you are allowed a peek into the medical world that shows disregard for humanity. The film revolves around an English professor, Vivian Bearing, being diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer, the treatment, and how her professional status is taken away for being a patient. A major theme of this movie is dependency on others by chronicling Vivian 's trial treatment and it allows the viewers a peek into the world of a patient dying from cancer. After watching the film, I noticed that there were a lot of significant moral issues, which correlates with the nursing profession.
In this essay I will discuss three of the many problems Mark Watney faces in the Martian. The first major problem Watney faces is getting stranded and wounded on Mars. The second problem Watney faces is how he is going to survive on mars till help can come. The final problem he faces is how is he going to get to the Ares, so he can leave Mars.
