GQ is an international men’s magazine based within New York City. After being founded in 1931 the company now publishes in Brazil, France, China, Germany, Italy, Australia, Canada, India, Latin America, United Kingdom and many more. When the company first began they went by the name of Apparel Arts however later dropped this title and changed to the current Gentlemen 's Quarterly (GQ) in 1957. The magazine focuses their stories around Fashion trends and styles, New technology, Foods, Sex, Movies, Music, Travel, Fitness, Sport and occasionally includes the latest Books. Although the magazine is now beginning to include females, this is more for the benefit of the male gaze rather than to attract a female demographic. Due to this the male individuals included in GQ dress in suits compared to the woman who are shown with very little clothing. A benefit of having attractive male celebrities on the cover pages of GQs magazine is that it attracts a small number of females to the publication. Metrosexuality challenges this by society becoming more accepting and open to new ideas and change. Men who were once depicted as masculine are more than ever able to express themselves rather than hide in fear of society 's judgement. Overall the more masculinity is challenged the easier it will be for society to begin to diminish the use of gender stereotypes in the future. Additionally, modern day man consecutively aids towards the depreciation of the male gender stereotypes by challenging them against female stereotypes. This means that the modern day man will participate in what society would associate as a ‘woman 's job’ like staying at home to care for family. A modern day man will be open to compromise and put others first compared to the ideologies identified with masculinity. With the help of metreosexauality those willing to challenge masculinity are close to being able to express themselves without having their gender stereotypes
