Nike is one of the top athletic company’s worldwide. Nike defines an athlete by “if you have a body, you are an athlete”. Nike fosters a culture of invention; creates products, services and experiences for today’s athlete while solving problems for the next generation. Making a Work Wear Sneaker for those who work in the restaurant industry is a highly demanded product. Nike Work Wear Sneaker would be comfortable, durable, non-slip, and very stylish; a sneaker that has yet to be invented.

Nike has no background on creating a slip resistant shoe that is worn in restaurants. From previous studies showed, slip-resistant shoes worn for less than six months were moderately more effective than those worn for more than six months, changing slip-resistant shoes every six months would reduce the risk of slips and falls (Verma, Chang, Courtney, Lombardi, Brennan, & Perry, 2012). This may suggest that if shoes are being replaced often that people are less likely to pay more money for a top brand, making the market smaller to reach. Another weakness is that because Nike has not been in this market, the make of the shoe may not hit all the safety points. There are several factors and safety rules that a non-slip shoes needs to meet. Another weakness would be the cost of research and design to produce this product. Although Nike specializes in high-quality sneakers designed for the sportsperson and while their wide range of designs and innovations cater perfectly to the sporting market, they don’t necessarily meet with the demands of the workplace (Best Slip Resistant Shoes for Chefs and Servers, 2017).
