The novel, Fahrenheit 45, begins with Montag burning a plethora of books. His profession in the novel is a firefighter, but not like the ones known in today's society. The purpose of the firemen in this alternate society is to rid the world of book by setting them ablaze. The central focus of the novel is around the books, and their effect on society.
