In this chapter I will be talking about the different symbols throughout the book for the main characters. A strong piece of symbolism I found was when Lucy’s power got cut, I remembered Lucy talking about business being slow recently. When there is not that much business then you don’t have a lot of income. Without income you can’t pay your bills. So when Lucy’s power got cut, I knew the reason Lucy’s grandma wouldn’t sell the pharmacy, it meant something to her. The reason they won’t sell the pharmacy is because Lucy’s grandpa used to make snacks and meals at the grill. This was one of the happy memories Lucy had of her grandpa still alive. I always try to step on the cream background instead.” (53, Greenwald) Once Lucy gets up to Sunny’s room Sunny’s mom comes in and was wearing a kiss the cook apron. Since Lucy then knows what Sunny’s mom wears, this leads me to thinking that this is the type of mom she wished she had. I say this because “Sunny’s mom opens the door, and she is wearing her red KISS THE COOK apron over her clothes.” (52,
