Application Paper-Parent Trap 1961 The 1961 version of the parent trap tells the story of identical twins Sharon McKendrick and Susan Evers who meet each other for the first time at a summer camp, and find out that they are in fact twins. Soon after they devise a plan to switch places so that they can simultaneously get to know their non-custodial parents better and to try and get them back together. However the plan is complicated when Sharon posing as Susan finds out that her father is going to get married to another woman. This causes the twins to speed up their plan, and a truly hilarious time between all those in the family including Vicky. The grandmother, Louise, is in charge of all the activities that the family participates in. Lousie says “ Oh, we’ve got the Picasso exhibition at four o’clock, Margaret. We don’t want to miss that.” to which Margaret responds “I know.”. Lousie continues asking if Charles is coming to which he responds with a no. Louise says “Then we should get out in time for Mrs. Saunders’ tea.” and just seconds later says to Susan posing as Sharon “ Oh, now, Sharon, you’ve got your dancing lesson at 10:30 then you can go straight on to the musical appreciation at the Lenardo Hall.”. Louise then tries to continue to lay out the family’s schedule when Susan, posing as Sharon, interrupts her. She says “I don't think I’ll be able to do any of those today.” to which Lousie responds in a shocked tone of voice “What did you say?”. Margaret then chimes in and says “ Sharon. You interrupted your grandmother.”. It is clear that both Lousie and Margaret are not used to Louise being interrupted and this inturn shows that a lot of respect is held for Lousie. This is also shown because within the McKendrick family very formal role titles are used. Instead of mom or grandma it is mother and grandmother. Staying within the McKendrick family, another communicative idea that is shown in the movie is the idea of a life
