Final Draft-- Masque of the Red Death Essay In the short story, ” The Masque of the Red Death” there's a lot of thing going on at once throughout the story. This story takes place during the Black Plague, with Prince Prospero and his family and friends. They try their hardest to hide and run away from the plague while Prince Prospero tries to stay hidden away in his palace. This story is known to be one of the most popular because it represents Shakespeare's seven ages of man story. Both stories both uses different colored rooms to represent different stages of man. The hidden message in “Masque of the Red Death,“ by Edgar Allen Poe is that no matter how hard things may or may get you can't escape your problems or fears now matter how much you might want to. Prince Prospero believed that being locked up inside his palace it would soon save him from the Black Plague.So for the prince to be safe and hidden away he found people to help surround the castle so no one couldnt come in or out of the castle. While the Prince locked himself away in the castle others inside the village were dying from the Black Plague outside of the castle walls and him and his friends stayed inside the castle for seven months believing that the virus would never get to them. The rooms run from east to west starting with the colors blue, purple, green, orange,white,violet, and BLACK. Every color and the order represented infant, schoolboy,lover, soldier, justice Old age, and his second childhood. As the short story continue Prince Prospero was starting to meet his end.The people who were locked up inside the castle started walking around facing each colored room and try to control their problems. The Princess party sees their problems that they face everyday and give there time fade at the clock while their facing the last
