Could you imagine running a dog team through a 1,150 mile race in the brisk cold of Alaska. In the book Winterdance Gary Paulsen moves to Minnesota and begins to train dogs to run a trapline. Eventually he acquires more and more dogs and trains them to run the iditarod. By the end of the book he had run the iditarod twice.
