Symbolism Of Water In The Bible

292 Words2 Pages
Water is significant to every being on this Earth, a necessity to survive. Since water plays such an important role in everyone’s life every day, authors often use it in their novels. The Bible is no different. In John 6:16-25, Jesus walks on water. Jesus’ disciples left on the sea toward Capernaum without Jesus. After the disciples were about three or four miles from the shore, Jesus walked across the sea toward their ship. Jesus then proceeds to get into the boat with the disciples and takes the boat from the middle of the sea to land immediately. The same story can be examined in Mark 6:45-52 and in Matthew 14:22-33.
This story is especially amazing because anyone who has tried to walk on the water knows that it is not humanly possible.
