The story set in time frame nearly 1950s in an A&P grocery store which is located in small town of Boston and roughly miles away from the beach. The setting of the story started at A&P grocery store and end at the store. There are so many symbols in story pass important messages to the reader. The first setting of the story was in the grocery store which is symbolic by placing a spotlight on society. Also, the bathing suits that girls were wearing has symbolic value. The manager considers to wear a bathing suit in the grocery store is inappropriate to society. This indifferent is also symbolic because its show that the girls were aware of societal norms and how an individual should dress or appear in public but still these girls were walking
