In the Book Of Mice And Men You will read about a lot of characters who deserve sympathy. Although Curley’s wife and Lennie are characters who deserve pity, Crooks is the most sympathetic character, his race, bad back , and is very lonely. He's not the only sympathetic character in the book pretty much every character deserves some pity for example Curley’s Wife and Lennie deserve some pity. One of the reasons the reader feels bad for Crooks is because he is separated from the rest of the ranch workers because of his race. For example, earlier in the book George is lighting up a fire Lennie asks “Tell me like you done before, about the rabbits.”. The reason why Lennie is asking George is for George to tell the story of how they will buy a house with a farm full of animals including (his favorite part ) the Rabbits. One of the biggest reasons he deserves the most sympathy is that at the end his best friend kills him at the end of the book. George was mad at Lennie so George pulls out a gun “And George Raised the gun and steadied it, and he brought the muzzle of it close to the back of Lennie’s head.” That was a very sad moment for me because this is one of the main characters and is the 2nd character you meet in the beginning of the story, and all of that ends by George shooting him in the head. I think after all of that, he deserves some sympathy (if he was still alive
