All The Presidents Men by Carl Bernstein begins with what intitially appears to be a routine assignment for Bob Woodward, one he really didn’t want. Bob Woodward is a young reporter who has been with the post for just Nine months, ironically he doesn’t want the Watergate break in story because it seems to basic he is hungry for a story that is a little more interesting that what seems to just be a random robbery. Soon after this Woodward begins to make startling discoveries on the robbery. The burglars had broken into the Democratic headquarters with what appeared to be listening devices and one of the criminals is a former member of the C.I.A. and has close ties to president Nixon. First they connect the break in to the comitee to re-alect the president or CREEP as the reporters at the Washington post call it. With the help of an anonymous FBI source known only to the reporters as ‘Deep Throat’ they learn of a CREEP slush fund that was used to sabotage and spy on two democratic presidents, Edmund Muskie, and George Mcevern. The reporters soon begin to “Follow the Dollar” trying to find out who the highest ranking official is that has been accessing the slush fund in order to undermine president and politicians of the democratic party. But a twist occurs Ben Bradlee says that in order to make their claims credible they need a reliable source who will go on record in order to confirm their claims. Both Bernstein and Woodward agree that this is essential to make the story credible. Meanwhile ‘Deep Throat’ tells the reporters that the slush fund is only a small detail to a much larger and more complex scandal that involves the likes of the C.I.A. to spy on American politicians, activist, and other citizens inside of the U.S. Both Woodward and Bernstein are warned if they revealed these connections to the public many people who are involved in the conspiracy would likely die including
