the fact that black males are more likely to be incarcerated we can conclude that African American families have a higher risk of being in poverty. Moreover, this leads to their children attending underfunded schools where they receive far less than an equal education. It is morally wrong that the value of you education should depend on your zip code, something you have limited to no control over. As claimed in Ta Nehisi’s “The Case for Reparations,” America will never be whole again until the wrong morals of the past and present are confronted. Indeed, a viable claim. Throughout the article he retold stories of important figures with direct experience with racism. In these stories, improvements were only made after the wrong doings were exposed to many. However, in the article it was also stated that our country has made progress in some areas of racism but in other we have made absolutely none. The gap between white and black teen pregnancies is closing, but the wage gap has not made much progress. There is no excuse for only making improvements in certain problems. If we choose to tackle the largest problems, I have no doubt we would see a major improvement in many other areas. Large parts of this information were new to me. The article stated when we think of racial discrimination we think of white only signs. I believe this to be true. This is what comes to mind when I think of racial segregation. But, I realize even though these signs are gone that does not mean racism is. I was surprise at the extent to which blacks were taken advantage of in the housing market. It was interesting how the author brought Obama’s family into his analysis. It is important to recognize that the first family does not represent the entire black population. They do not represent the typical situation for a black
