Charter schools are a different type of school that is helpful to some students but not all. What a charter school is, they are privately managed, taxpayer funded schools which are made up from the community. However charter schools are not like private schools they are in fact outlined after public schools. Charter schools are for students who want to achieve a high level education. A school voucher is a government voucher redeemable for tuition fees at any school other than a public school, which a student can attend for free ("school voucher", 2017). In the article “Who are the forces behind the school voucher push in Texas?” written by Brett Shipp of WFAA.com reveals who supports the public-school voucher and how they are trying to get the school vouchers passed. The article also reveals that most of the people who support the voucher are from the wealthy population (Shipp, 2017). He revealed that the first people allowed to speak to the Senate committee of Education in support of the school vouchers were not even natives of Texas (Shipp, 2017).

Charter schools have a big effect in our community . There are many advantages and disadvantages of attending a charter school. Public charter schools are emerging as one of the top educational choices for many students and parents for many reasons. Charter schools are public schools that function under contracts between the school and an authorizing agency in order to give the school more freedom on their “educational objectives” (NCSRC). Public charter schools have become available in the past twenty years, but they only started to thrive in the past decade due to the growing dissatisfaction towards traditional public schools (Gawlik). The first charter school was established in 1991 in Minnesota, and now there are over 6000 public charter schools around the nation (Silvernail 1). The increasing number of available charter schools has not only given students and parents
Education is the most essential component to the future of American society, yet despite all the technological advances that society in general have achieved, it is still one of the areas rooted in the past. Democracy necessitates equality. It operates under the assumption that all citizens have an equal opportunity for success. America promises that whether you’re born with a silver spoon in your mouth or in the state penitentiary, you have every opportunity to be successful. While several factors blur the lines regarding equality, education plays an extremely important role.
