2.0 LITERATURE REVIEW
2.1 Introduction
This section of the report will be used to discuss the findings of previous studies in the area of TB case detection especially among healthcare providers. For purposes of convenience, the section will be discussed under sub-thematic areas as Knowledge regarding TB case detection, Health worker practices regarding TB case detection, challenges to TB case detection, and factors influencing low TB case detection.
2.2 Healthcare providers Knowledge regarding TB case detection

In the study conducted among health care workers in Iraq on Knowledge, attitude and practices regarding TB, it was found that even though health staff had relatively higher knowledge with respect to what to do at any given time, it did not translate into their practice of TB control especially in the area of investigation of a TB suspect, a situation that fostered healthy grounds for poor case finding and inappropriate case-holding practices (Hashim et al., 2005).
Again, the study on knowledge attitude and practices of healthcare workers regarding TB control among thirty government hospitals in Thailand also arrived at the conclusion that high healthcare providers' knowledge does not necessarily translate into good practice. Knowledge level was found to be in correlation with the number of TB trainings attended as well as the profession of the respondent (Lertkanokkun and Okanurak, 2013).

2.4.0 Health worker challenges contributing to low TB case detection
2.4.1 Logistics and supply chain system.
Screening and diagnosis of TB cases in the various health facilities is to a large extent dependent on the availability of adequate logistic. Lack of screening tools has been cited as a major challenge contributing to missed opportunities with regards to TB care (Dimitrova, 2006; Ngadaya et al., 2009; Artawan Eka Putra et al., 2013).
Ngadaya et al ( 2009), further reported that there were occasions when guidelines for TB case detection were not existent and even places where they existed, staff did not know about them and hence contributed to low TB case detection.
