Technological advances have greatly shaped our regions in many different ways in the throughout the 1700s. Geography and the resources have also affected technology during the 17th century in different regions to create an identity. During America's expansion time period, there were many breakthroughs in technology, which made the U.S stronger. Thus, making more regional individuality in different areas of the states with the help of technology.

First off, technology in the 17th century was crucial when it was invented, becoming popular and in more demand because of how useful it was. For example, when the textile mills were created, it was greatly beneficial to everyone in different ways. Eli Whitney had thought of this idea where parts of a machine were similar. The reason for this proposal was that it would make machines to construct and made broken parts uncomplicated by replacing it. In a result of this invention, mass production sped up in the US, more people were hired in factories and the US managed to stop relying on foreign goods. This helped the U.S greatly with their regional identity because of their sudden wealth, business and finance.

Afterward, the US and parts of it continued to form more regional identities because of the technological breakthroughs. For example, the steamboats were invented in the 1700s and caused great benefit to to the regions with water. The steamboat was suited for water traveling and its greatest benefit was that it did not rely on wind power.
