Within the book Fahrenheit 451 written by Ray Bradbury there are many similarities between technology, the way society reacts when being offended, and people being reckless with their lives is how our society is now and how society is portrayed in the book. Technology plays a major role in people's lives not just in the book. In Fahrenheit 451 people spend their time watching the parlor walls or listening to seashell radio’s at least that is how Montag’s wife, Mildred spends all her time. With all the time spent watching the parlor walls Mildred no longer bothers communicating with anyone but her family within the walls. Montag is tired of trying to talk to Mildred when she is distracted “No matter when he came in, the walls were always talking to Mildred” (Bradbury 42). Since the walls are interactive Mildred is always talking to her family through the walls day in and day out. Every year phones improve and advance with what they can do. Therefore most people have technology like phones, tablets, computers, and T.V.’s. People are always entertained by their phones when texting, calling, playing games, and taking pictures. Books were being burned because of how topics were addressed and bothered people so they rid themselves of books to keep the peace. Beatty was speaking to Montag and said ‘“Coloured people don't like Little Black Sambo. Burn it. White people don't feel good about Uncle Tom's Cabin. Burn it. Someone's written a book on tobacco and cancer of the lungs? The cigarette people are weeping? Burn the book”’(Bradbury 57). With there being many subjects that were prohibited to talk about, authors were left with nothing left to write. So authors as well as books went extinct. It is easier more than ever to get offended than it has ever been. With twitter and other versions of social media it is easy to post things that do not sit well with
