The Progressive Era began in the 1890’s directly after the Industrial Age.
Teddy Roosevelt was one of the people who made a huge impact during the progressive era. He was also credited with most of the things that were done in the progressive era. William Howard was another president during this time and he continued on Teddy’s ideas of progression during this time. Although he continued Teddy’s legacy he wasn’t remembered as well. The last man who was president of the progressive era was president Woodrow Wilson. He also tried to continue with these ideas, but he had a problem with being racist and not agreeing with women's rights.
During the progressive era, economics was changed dramatically for the good. The two things that happened that impacted our economic standpoint the most was trust busting and the pure food and drug act. Teddy Roosevelt started trust busting. Trust-busting started because Roosevelt believed that big companies took away any chance for competition. This process first went after a very big company at this time. In 1911 Teddy Roosevelt went after the standard oil company and in the end, won and divided up the company. Another thing that went on at that time was regulation. There were very many racism problems at this time. During this time many people had trouble with African American rights. Teddy Roosevelt helped to stop these problems by helping African Americans to vote and to get more education. He even talked with a few of them about what they think would be best to do about these problems. Women's issues was another problem.
