Superficially, the difference between toddlers and teenagers seem to be great. To many, the words toddler and teenager can invoke different images. Naturally, toddlers can be adorable while teenagers tend to be prickly. At a glance, one might think there are absolutely no similarities between the two. However, I have discovered that they have more in common than they have different. Toddlers and teenagers display a similar need for affection and the constant need to show their parents they can or want to be independent. Obviously, the curiosity of the teenager can have a stronger consequence than that of the toddler, but the similarity in behavior is apparent. The inquisitive factor is equal to the impulse factor. The brain in a toddler and teen is constantly developing and the capability to monitor themselves is not fully developed until after the age of 25.
