Teens Working Against Bullying is a psychoeducational group designed for teenagers who are encountering bullying as well as those who have encountered bullying in the past. Teens who are bullied are more likely to experience depression and anxiety, which can contribute to the decrease of academic achievement while others may attempt or commit suicide. There are four common types of bullying which will be addressed in group counseling. The four types of bullying are the following listed: Cyberbullying, physical bullying, verbal bullying, and relational bullying. The purpose of this group is to increase awareness, resolve, eliminate, and prevent bullying across the nation. Most importantly, Teens Working Against Bullying is needed at several schools in the small town of Clarksdale, Mississippi. Specifically, Coahoma County Junior high school is a school in Clarksdale with rising number of complaints in regards to bullying with both girls and boys. …show more content…

Although several students stated that they have sought individual counseling, Teens Working Against Bullying believes that individual counseling combined with group counseling would be more effective than individual counseling alone. In addition, Teens Working Against Bullying also believes that group counseling would be a great opportunity for students to share their thoughts and feeling with other students. The group will give students an optimistic feeling that they are not alone. Teens Working Against Bullying is a voluntary group, which means that each student has a decision on whether he or she would like to attend group counseling. Most importantly, any student under the age of 18 must have parental consent. Sending documentation home to parents is an excellent way to include a brief description of the purpose of the group and the importance of confidentiality in group
