In the story Tell Tale Heart, the narrator is insane and shall get a death penalty. When the narrator explains his relationship with the old man and why he killed him, he says, “Object there was none. Passion. There was none. I love the old man. He had never wronged me. He never gave me an insult. For his gold I had no desire. I think it was his eye! Yes, it was a snare! He had the eye of a vulture—a pale blue eye, with a film over it.”(Poe 1). The narrator had a really good relationship with the old man; he was never wronged by the old man, never been insulted by the old man, and had no desire to take his gold. The narrator isn’t sure why he killed the old man and makes a prediction that he killed him because of his eyes. The narrator is also happy after killing the old man as he smiles after what he did to him. The narrator doesn’t know what is right or wrong, and is a threat to people because he doesn’t know what actions he should take and what he actually wants.
