Temple Grandin was born in 1947, at age two she was diagnosed with autism. Throughout her childhood she had a hard time speaking to others, but music was a great help with her. When Temple listened to music she was relaxed and calm. This lead to her listening to music most of the time she was by herself. Since then she has learned ways to keep her mind off of her disability (“The My Hero Project”). Temple Grandin raises awareness about autism in her literature works including Thinking in Pictures, Animals in Translation and “Different But No Less”. Temple Grandin’s text “Thinking in Pictures” praises to play the hand that you are dealt in life. In the book “Thinking in Pictures” explains in detail how someone has autism and how not only affects their life but their friends and family. Temple explains in the book how to always keep your animals in a good environment for than. Also, she stresses to not make you animals feel afraid of there surroundings. “What kinds of stimuli might make a animal feel frightened? What kinds of stimuli might make a animal feel angry?” (Simon). The meaning behind this book was to show how the autistic brain works. Grandin explains how her brain works by giving examples of how her brain works and puts into an animal perspective. She also created a squeeze machine that she explains in this book. She invented the squeeze machine while she was in college. She made this squeeze machine because she was crawling through a tight tunnel one day and she she stopped and realized her nerves were relaxed. So she thought of a way to use this machine in farming. When the cows walk into this machine there are padded plates that squeeze the cow and it relaxes the cows so it won't freak out before it is going to be
